DEAR PARISHIONERS,
By way of introduction, I am Father Matthew Pearson, your new parochial vicar at Stella Maris Parish. I was ordained in 2022 and for the past three years my ministry has been down in Janesville in the St. Jane Frances de Chantal Pastorate.
I grew up in Cambria, a small factory town located about halfway between Portage and Columbus. During high school, I stayed active playing sports and spent my summers working at a golf course near my grandparents' house in the suburbs of Chicago. After high school, I attended Northern Illinois University where I studied Communications and Video Production.
In 2010, I had a rediscovery of my Catholic faith and began RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, as I never received the Sacrament of Confirmation during high school. After my Confirmation in 2011, I spent several years working and practicing the faith. In 2016, I entered the seminary and was sent to St. Andrew's College Seminary on the campus of Seton Hall University where I graduated with a degree in Philosophical Theology in 2018. I was subsequently sent to the North American College in Rome to complete my theological studies.
I am greatly looking forward to meeting all of you and continuing my ministry in the Stella Maris Parish. I would also like to extend a fraternal greeting to Father Sternberg and Father Foley as we begin our ministry together. I thank the Lord for your priesthoods and pray the Lord will bless our time together.

75th Anniversary of IHM Church
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and the original shrine of Our Lady of the Green Scapular. Custom-made 10-inch replica statues of Our Lady of the Green Scapular will be sold for $75 each (payment by cash or check) after 10:30 Mass at IHM on July 13.
