IHM Students Support Sister Parish
Normally the students sacrifice their “Dress-Down Fridays” for Lent or they offer $2 as Alms. At a student assembly just before Lent, Barb Brochtrup, member of the Sister Parish Committee and art teacher at IHM, explained that St. Benedict Parish does not have a bell in their bell tower, to call parishioners to Mass. (Parishioners do not have clocks, watches or cell phones). This year, as a school, the students are raising funds to help buy a bell. When Fr. Peter, Assistant Pastor of St. Benedict Parish in Tanzania, learned of this, he was delighted as said, “Maybe we
shall ring our big new bell for Easter Joy!”
Lenten Almsgiving
This year our pastorate almsgiving will support the Sister Parish in Tanzania. You may use the almsgiving box or give online here. Pilgrimage to Sister Parish in Tanzania
The Sister Parish Committee is planning a pilgrimage to our Sister Parish, St. Benedict Parish in Ilungu, Tanzania, for August 2025. Sign up for more info at the Lenten Almsgiving table at the back of Church. No obligation.
Old Palms
This year, due to logistics, we are not collecting palms in our pastorate. Blessed palm branches should be treated with special reverence. They should either be burned with the ashes then buried or simply buried. This ensures their sacred purpose is honored and returns them to the earth in a dignified way.
Easter Flowers
If you would like to honor a loved one with Easter flowers, you can donate online or place an envelope labeled “Easter Flowers in memory/honor of: and from:” and place in the collection basket. Suggested donation $25.
